A ketogenic diet ( keto diet ) is a high fat ,low carb diet which has proven to provide many health benefits to people with cholesterol, diabetes ,hypertension ,epilepsy , Alzheimer’s disease.

The basis of this diet is to reduce the carb intake drastically and replacing it with high fat in order to put your body in a state of ketosis ( a metabolic state where the main source of energy of your body becomes the stored fat ) which results in rapid weight loss .

The ketogenic diet or keto diet has been proven to provide several health benefits . People on this diet have shown great improvements in the cholesterol levels , blood sugar levels , increased activity levels, women suffering from PCOD issues.

The ketogenic diet can help you lose excess fat, which is closely linked to type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and metabolic syndrome.

As you lose excess weight our blood sugar levels are reduced which also helps women in PCOD ( which is one of the main factors contributing to infertility and hormonal issues in young women ).

Ketogenic diets have also shown to lower high cholesterol levels. Eating good fats help in lowering the LDL( bad cholesterol ) levels and increasing the HDL ( good cholesterol) levels.

FOODS TO AVOID IN KETO

Ketogenic diet( keto diet)  is a high fat low carb diet so foods high in carbohydrates should be avoided. All foods with healthy fats should be included and good quality proteins should be included.

Here is a list of foods that need to be reduced or eliminated on a ketogenic diet:
  • All types of sugars like juices , colas , smoothies , candies ,sweets , biscuits.
  • All wheat based products, roti, rice, pasta, cereals.
  • Fruits except all types of berries like strawberries ,raspberries, blueberries .
  • Lentils , kidney beans , chickpeas.
  • All root vegetables like potatoes, carrots ,sweet potatoes.
  • Limit your intake of processed vegetable oils, mayonnaise, etc.
  • All sugarfree diet products .


FOODS TO EAT IN KETO

  • Meat and meat products like bacon, red meat , chicken etc.
  • Fatty fish like tuna , salmon , mackeral.
  • Eggs.
  • Grass fed butter .
  • Cheese like cheddar, goat ,mozzarella.
  • Nuts and seeds .
  • Healthy oils like extra virgin coconut oil , olive oil, sesame oil, avocado oil.
  • Avocado.
  • Low carb veges like tomatoes,onions,peppers etc.
